Where the Light Finds Me

There are moments in nature that ask us to stop and simply be. Where the Light Finds Me captures one of those quiet encounters—a stag standing still as sunlight filters through the trees, illuminating his presence against the forest backdrop.

For me, this painting is less about the deer itself and more about what it represents. The stag stands with quiet confidence, neither hiding nor demanding attention, simply existing in the space where light has found him. His antlers stretch outward like the branches around him, blurring the line between the animal and the landscape he calls home.

Built through expressive layers of colour and textured brushwork, the painting explores the gentle interplay between strength and vulnerability. Flecks of warm light dance across his coat, suggesting that even in the densest parts of the forest, there are moments of clarity and calm.
